Felin Crewi is Welsh for 'Mill on the River Crewi' but a more accurate translation might be, 'Escape from the madness of the modern world in a soothing, 15th-century oasis.'
Set in a restored water mill, Felin Crewi is accommodation in Machynlleth where you can relax, unwind, and explore Wales. Beautifully secluded and yet easily accessible, our two holiday cottages, stable and caravan offer a peaceful haven to restore a soul bruised and battered by the modern world.
Come and stay in one of our beautifully restored mill cottages or, for the vagabond at heart, our stable or caravan, situated just out from Machynlleth. Each combines the spirit and flavour of a bygone age with luxury and comfort that is as indulgent as a chocolate & cream cake. Both cottages retain original features, including a working water wheel.
The Watermill
The original watermill has been sympathetically converted to provide luxury self-catering accommodation for up to six people. A delightful home from which to explore the surrounding countryside.
The Granary
Originally the dairy and stabling for the mill, The Granary with its beamed ceiling, inglenook fireplace and slate walls offers the ultimate in comfort and charm, for up to six people.
The Millpond Caravan
Located next to the shallow millpond, this fully-insulated mobile home has all the modern comforts, including central heating, mains water and electricity, and a gas fire.
The Stable
Originally home for the local neigh-sayers, it has been charmingly restored to provide the high standards of comfort that humans insist on.
The Charming Room
The Charming Room is in the main house at Felin Crewi. The bedroom has two single beds, with a cosy lounge next door.
A little bit about Felin Crewi
Set on the river Crewi in the bewitching Dovey valley, less than 2 miles from the county town of Machynlleth, Felin Crewi offers the best of both worlds: surprisingly accessible by road or rail and yet hidden and secluded. And offering something determinedly old-fashioned: a warm welcome and hospitality.
Nearby there are fine walks, loads of cycling paths, great pubs, and warm, friendly people.
Further afield, you'll discover a wonderland of great natural beauty filled with things to do. From very gentle paddling in the sea to full-on extreme sports: climbing, caving or biking.
It's a perfect place for families, with fishing nets supplied for adventurous children, and a mass of Lego and board games for rainy days.
Does it rain? We won't sugarcoat it, there have been one or two reports.
But the ultimate aim here, no matter what you do, is allow the magic to work on you and rejuvenate a soul battered by the stresses of the modern world. And don't worry if you don't think you've got a soul: we'll restore yours anyway and, at the end of your stay, hand it back wrapped in tissue and tied with a pink bow.
